What is S-Equol?
S-Equol (CAS 531-95-3) is the S-enantiomer of equol, an isoflavandiol related to the metabolism of daidzein. For bulk sourcing, total chemical purity and optical purity are separate quality attributes and should be reviewed independently.
PathGene manufacturing route
PathGene uses an engineered-microorganism bioconversion process to convert daidzein into the S-configuration, followed by biomass removal, extraction, purification, crystallization and drying. The wording "engineered microorganism" describes the production system without identifying a specific host strain.

A total HPLC assay alone does not demonstrate that the material is a single S-enantiomer. Buyers should request the optical-purity result and its test method in addition to the standard assay.

Formulation considerations
S-Equol has limited water solubility. Formulators should evaluate particle size, dispersion method, carrier system, target pH, processing temperature and packaging through small-scale compatibility and stability testing before commercial scale-up.
